Description
VAC1-15E Single Phase Fan Speed Controller (15A, 1.6kW, 110V)
The VAC1-15E 15A Single Phase Fan Speed Controller is a robust and compact enclosed phase-angle regulator designed for infinitely variable control of single-phase mains-driven inductive loads. Rated for 110V AC operation and up to 15A, it provides adjustable voltage output from 0–98%, making it suitable for controlling induction motors, fans, pumps, and other HVAC equipment.
The VAC1-15E incorporates a large TRIAC for high inrush-current protection and an integral RC snubber network for reliable operation with inductive loads. A rear-mounted minimum speed adjustment allows the user to set a minimum output level, preventing motors from operating too slowly and helping to protect connected equipment.
⚠️ Important: For 15A operation, the controller must be mounted to a suitable heatsink or panel rated at 2°C/W or better. Heatsink paste is essential between the controller and heatsink to ensure effective thermal bonding.
The package includes the controller, control knob, label, and printed datasheet.
Key Features:
- Variable 0-98% Output: Allows precise control.
- Minimum Set Speed Adjuster: Tailor minimum output to optimise motor speeds.
- High Inrush Current Handling: Triac design for industrial reliability.
- RC Snubber Network: Stabilises inductive loads for enhanced performance.
- Easy Installation: Single-hole fixing, with front panel mounting aids.
- Convenient Installation: Includes adhesive-backed silver label and hairline knob.

Operation
The VAC1-15E uses phase-angle voltage regulation to provide infinitely variable control of single-phase fan and motor loads. By adjusting the controller, the voltage supplied to the connected motor can be varied from minimum to maximum, allowing the operating speed of compatible fans and motors to be controlled.
The integrated minimum set-speed adjuster prevents the motor from operating below a selected minimum voltage. This is particularly useful where a fan must maintain a minimum airflow or where excessively low motor speeds could affect motor performance.
An integral RC snubber network improves the controller’s performance when switching inductive loads, while the large TRIAC provides additional protection against high starting and inrush currents.
Applications
The VAC1-15E is ideal for HVAC fan control, ventilation systems, extraction fans, air handling systems, industrial fans, induction motors, pump speed control, cooling fans, heating and ventilation equipment, commercial ventilation systems and industrial fan and pump applications.

Which VAC fan controller is right for my application?
The easiest way to select a VAC controller is to consider three things: supply voltage, load requirements and whether you need an integrated ON/OFF switch.
- 110V application? Choose a VAC1 model.
- 230V application? Choose a VAC2 model.
- Need an integrated ON/OFF switch? Choose an /S model.
- Need variable speed control only? Choose the standard model.
Important: Always verify the motor’s compatibility with phase-angle speed control and check the actual running current, starting characteristics, ambient temperature and thermal requirements before selecting a controller.
