Single Phase Fan Controller – VAC2-15E, 15A, 4kW, 230V
The VAC2-15E 15A 230V Fan Controller is a robust and compact enclosed variable phase-angle regulator designed for precise control of single-phase mains-driven inductive loads. With a maximum rated supply of 230V AC and up to 15A on-state current, it is ideal for controlling induction motors, fans and pumps in HVAC and industrial applications.
The controller provides an infinitely variable output from 0–98%, allowing users to adjust motor speed and airflow accurately. An integrated RC snubber improves performance with inductive loads, while the large TRIAC provides enhanced protection against high inrush currents. A rear-mounted minimum speed adjuster helps prevent motors from operating below their reliable running speed.
Important: For 15A operation, the controller must be mounted to a suitable heatsink or panel rated at 2°C/W or better. Heatsink paste is essential between the controller and heatsink to ensure effective thermal bonding.

Operation
The VAC2-15E controls the voltage supplied to a single-phase inductive load using phase-angle regulation. Rotating the front control adjusts the output voltage, allowing the speed of compatible motors and fans to be varied smoothly.
The integrated minimum set speed adjuster can be used to establish a safe minimum output level. This is particularly useful where a motor must not be allowed to run too slowly during normal operation.
The controller’s large TRIAC provides a high margin for handling motor starting and inrush currents, while the integrated RC snubber helps suppress electrical disturbances associated with inductive loads.

Safety & Installation
- Installation should only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel.
- Isolate the mains supply before installation, adjustment or maintenance.
- The controller must be mounted to a suitable heatsink/panel rated at 2°C/W or better for 15A operation.
- Heatsink paste is essential between the controller and heatsink to provide effective thermal bonding and heat transfer.
- Operating the unit without suitable thermal management may result in overheating and product failure.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller and heatsink.
- The minimum set speed adjustment is accessed through the rear cover hole, which is normally covered by an adhesive label.
- Adjust the cermet screw using a small terminal screwdriver.
- Follow the applicable electrical installation regulations and manufacturer’s instructions.
